Settling in visits

At Barn Owls we truly value the important role that parents and carers play in their child's life.  Before your little one starts their pre-school journey, Helen, our Manager, will get in touch to see if you would like to visit the setting and to hopefully arrange for your child's key person to visit them at home, just before they join Barn Owls.

 

These visits are a great chance for you and your child to meet our friendly staff, ask any questions you have, and share what makes your child tick—like their daily routines, likes, and dislikes.

We can also chat about our policies and the daily activities we have in place. These visits are super flexible, so we can focus on what your child needs to make their transition into the Barn Owls family as smooth as possible.

Your child’s Key Person and their Online Journal

During the visits you will be introduced to your child’s ‘Key Person’. As each child has a special person to relate to, this helps us build strong links between Barn Owls and home. The Key Person will really get to know your child and create an online Learning Journal through Tapestry, that you can read and add to.

 

Besides observations on learning and progress, their journal will include things like photos, videos etc. When your child leaves Barn Owls, the journal is yours to print and keep as a memento.

We also offer home visits, should you wish to invite your child’s Key Person and the Pre-School Manager to come to your home. Our home visits give you and your child the opportunity to meet and get to know their key person in a relaxed home environment. Working together to settle your child into Barn Owls will help them to really enjoy their time with us.
